Mumbai Attack

It is ridiculous to experience such callous act at regular intervals. The Government boasts of doing every possible counter action at every incident. But nothing has prevented the culprits to curtail the dastardly criminal actions on innocent human beings. The leniency shown by the authorities concerned has been construed as inability on the part of our security forces that encourages the miscreants. The nation as a whole should be united irrespective of their cast creed or religion and take stern steps to eradicate this menace. We are strong. We have long heritage background. Our people are positive in their outlook. We have all resources and moral strength to face any type of external threats. Time and again proved this to the world. What prevents us to be bold and outright in our expressions? It is just a hiccup. Forget and march forward with cheers.

Well, everyone has a role to play. Private industry, citizens et al. This blog post is a role. Depending on what we want to do the difficulty and cost changes.
1. Terrorist has entered the venue (say hotel), pulled the gun. It is possible to stop him from taking down many lives by taking him down. This does not cost much.
2. Terrorist has entered the town, stopping him from entering a crowded place cost higher and it is tougher.
3. Terrorist left his place, not allowing him to enter our soil is much more tougher and much costlier.
4. Confining the terrorist to his territory is better but still harder. Looks like US has managed to do this.
5. Making the terrorist to take a book rather than a gun, think of love rather than hate is even better but much much harder.
I had sent an email to Tata's to speak with Ratan or his security team to accomplish the first item ( technology can easily accomplish this and I know how to get there and it could be a multi-billion dollar business ), but yet to hear from them.

your suggested options are worth trying at this juncture.
Anyhow our Government and the US, the Uk and other international leaders are working hard to convey and convince Pakistan to annihilate all hide outs and bluntly refuse to harbour any type of terrorist movement in their soil. This is the real and long lasting solution.
Regarding the restrictions and prevention of terrorists outside our borders are our national responsibility. We are not laggards or inefficient people. We are taking all measures to control and constrain their movements. Our borders are long and lot of inter state practical problems are to be coordinated to face the crimes forthwith. Sometimes it may be hindrance or miscalculations that lead us to this type of let up in our security lapse. We cannot be 100% foolproof like the US as ours is multi-lingual, multi-cultural, and above all multi-times larger in population. Another draw back is that Pakistan is our next-door neighbour and its border is very long. The problem at the US is different. The terrorists have to cross many countries and oceans to reach there. Again their population is less and the geographical area is vast. Above all both Americans and the terrorists are of entirely different ethnics and races.
The same US are not totally successful in this type of other incidents on the borders of Cuba and Mexico. There they are like Indians in the let up of security lapses in other international criminal cases.
Intercepting and restricting the movement of terrorists in our country are our responsibility. We have had a pathetic and sinful let up that cost around 200 precious lives. Nothing can compensate or condone this loss. We have to strengthen our security, update our communication network and modernize the weaponry immediately. Surveillance and vigilance should be made multi-layer process.
Safeguarding the entrance of any place is the main duty of our corporates. Even with receiving adequate advance information regarding the probable attack our people let open the gates in the back of Taj International. But when we think of terrorists attack in other places like Chatrapathi Sivaji Terminal, nothing could stop these hooligans at the entrance. Strong resistance at the entry level might have reduced the death toll to some extent at Taj.
Terrorism is an act o perversion and psychic. This cannot be abolished by education alone. It may significantly reduce the rate of occurences. There is lots of heinous perverts among educated youth too.
